Dilutability
MK 78
is dilutable with alcohols, ketons,
esters and aromatic hydrocarbons.
Compatibility
MK 78
is completely compatible with drying
and non drying short to medium oil
alkyds, short oil epoxyesters, and
epoxy resins but not compatible with
nitro cellulose solutions. For nitro
compatible urea resin please refer
to MK 78-02 type

Recommendations for use
In
conjuction with short oil alkyd
resins at a ratio of 6:4 or 7:3 (solid
basis) good quality stoving finishes
can be obtained. The stoving
schedule should be 30 minutes at 125°C.
The best choice for optimum ratio is
6:4 according to the accumulated
experiences over the years.
MK
78-02
This
resin is basically the same as MK 78
but does not contain any
formaldehyde scavenger. All physical
and chemical properties are also
identical to MK 78. However
exclusion of the special scavenger
enables MK 78-02 to be compatible
with nitro cellulose MK 78-02 can
also be used in any applications
where MK 78 is used. MK 78-02 is
mainly used in nitro cellulose
lacquers for aluminium foils. In
these system, addition of 7-8% MK
78-02 on total weight of the
formulation is an adequate amount.
